Title: The Conclusion of Freedom

Warning: Possible typos and grammatical errors, etc.
Disclaimer: I do not have anything, except this.

“Boy, oh, boy…….” He muttered, stepping forward. The city they were heading was just several kilometers ahead, and now he was in a big trouble: confronted with the corps that was chasing him and his friend. He already knew the army was chasing them, but it was not what he expected. Once arriving the city, it would be all right. No one would mind them when they are hanging around slums. However, the army were faster than he thought, and he and his friend – who was severely weakened, nearly half-dead – had nowhere to escape now.

- The first bullet was just missed, and the second bullet…. he barely avoided it. Hadn’t he ducked and covered his friend, either one could be hit. He asked the driver for stopping the truck, then got off. -

Sure, the price of freedom is… so high.
He gazed at his friend – still looked unconscious – one last time, then drew his sword.

The battle was never easy, even with his enhanced physical strength. He knew it, and even though he knew there’s slim chance to survive as well, he had no intension to stop or surrender.

Gunshot rang. His battered body couldn’t take it anymore. Another gunshot was heard, and his vision faded.
The conclusion of freedom.
Rain started to fall upon the place of slaughter.

Is the freedom… nothing but a distance between the hunter and the prey?
He blinked his eyes. Someone came in his blurry sight.
“Zack.” Gloved hand touched dying man’s cheek.
“Cloud…”
Be free, my friend.

Evil Authoress L’s Note: ‘The conclusion of Freedom’ and ‘Is the freedom….’ are drawn from Bei Dao’s poems. Since I felt the word ‘end’ sounds too simple and harsh, I used ‘conclusion’ instead. I couldn’t think of better word about that…
